Rotunda
Patient Transfer Aid
The risk of back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is a very real issue for carers and nurses.
Consider the amount of physical effort that is required and the awkward positions that a nurse or carer may have to get into when transferring a patient from sitting to standing to sitting. The use of a Rotunda patient transfer aid can remove the need for manual handling and lower the risk of injury to the carer, whilst providing a safer, more dignified and comfortable transfer solution for the patient.

Robust, strong and built to last
Handmade in Haverhill since 1987, following consultation with our clients the original Rotunda has been engineered and adapted and is now the leading patient transfer aid on the market. Thousands are used in NHS and private hospitals, care homes and residences up and down the country.
Manufactured from premium steel it is robust, strong and built to last by our team of craftsmen.
A safer, more comfortable and dignified experience for the patient
The sturdy frame instils confidence in the patient as they make the transition between a bed, seat, commode or wheelchair. The wide turntable provides a stable and safe area that the patient can confidently step on to while the transfer takes place. The Rotunda rotates between five different positions with a locking device to ensure patient safety.
The Patient’s risk and fear of falling is diminished with the high visibility features for hand and feet placement. The curved support frame provides added security and peace of mind as the patient is actively involved in the transfer, which will improve their circulation and they can enjoy a sense of independence rather than just being passively lifted from one place to another.
A simplified, less risky solution for the carer
To the uninitiated moving a person with limited mobility from a bed to a wheelchair may seem like a very simple process. To the carer the risk of back injury in carrying out this task repeatedly throughout the day is a very real occupational hazard. Fortunately using the Rotunda patient transfer aid greatly diminishes this risk as it eliminates the need to lift the patient.
In the majority of cases, provided the appropriate risk assessment has been undertaken, a single carer can manage the transfer when using the Rotunda, freeing up resources that can be utilised in other areas. Large wheels make the Rotunda very easy to manoeuvre over all types of floor coverings including carpet.
